Careers at Henderson Blake
Our (quirky) selection process
Selecting future Henderson Blake employees is serious business for us.
In our workplace, it’s not only important for us to make sure that we got the right person for the job: it’s also important for us to be sure that we are the right company for the applicant, and that the applicant is the right candidate for the right job. This is how we ensure employee satisfaction as best as we can, so we encourage a two-way communication from the very beginning so it’s not all about getting to know you as a candidate, but about us knowing each other. Initially we screen applicants based on their resumes and in some cases, remote assessments. If an applicant meets the requirements for the job, then we call them in for interviews where he or she is free to ask any questions about the company. A unique step in our application process is the panel interview, which is done over a casual lunch or dinner with some of our staff. At Henderson Blake, we put a lot of stock on the opinion of the people who will be working with a new employee: our aim with this informal interview is for us to get to know the employee on a personal level and to introduce what working in HB is like. Through this meeting, we are able to determine culture fit—a significant consideration during the recruitment process.
